VI stands for Victory in Iraq. I think I posted something back in July that I viewed July 6, 2008 and the day that should be recognized as the end of the war in Iraq, and that was based on some dispatches from Michael Yon and the fact that some British newspapers were starting to use the term.
This day is good with me too. November 22, 2008.
I am partisan also. I would much rather that this day be declared under the leadership of President George Bush rather then be allowed to roll over to President-In-Training-Pants Obama to take credit for. He is the man who to this day will not even admit that the surge worked, while at the same time advocating for the same kind of surge in Afghanistan. Gee if it is such a lousy strategy why would we want to repeat it?
The biggest concern I have with an Obama administration in regards to any sort of surge strategy is that they will try to do it exactly like we did in Iraq. Here is a hint to the clueless. The basic tenets of the strategy will work but it must be modified to meet reality on the ground. I don't think liberals completely appreciate that.
Anyway I am glad to be a part of this celebration of VI Day and I hope we do manage to give credit where credit is due, and that is the men and women of our Armed Forces.
